Comfortable and Good Adjustability
We took this Osprey Talon 6 out snowshoeing today, comfortable lumbar pack! Once my husband got it set well it didn’t slip around, but it took some adjustment to make it feel secure. Admittedly he has really slim hips, so personal build makes a difference with fit on a lumbar pack. This pack has nice adjustability to fit over my husband’s jacket and plenty of space to carry some essentials. It will adjust small enough to use in the warm seasons as well. I’ll note that the bottle holder sections do not fit a Nalgene bottle, they require a slimmer bottle like a Contigo or something similar. (He used my Contigo today…not his favorite, but it was fine) We didn’t get warm enough to need to shed our jackets today, but it was great to have the option to stow securely with the clipped wings if we did. We hit a couple of patches of pretty technical terrain and this pack felt really secure while scrambling, no slipping. High quality materials and good features as we’ve come to expect from Osprey. 5 stars for folks that use slim water bottles and nothing as thick as a Nalgene.

Style: 6lColor: Frosty Mint Green/Night ShiftVerified PurchaseReally like the talon 6 waist pack. The belt is very comfy, very adjustable. The water sleeves on the side are great for pint/half liter bottles. 2 liters of water bottles is a little too heavy, but doable. 1.5 liters for 5 mile desert hikes is what I use it for. Love this pack for short hikes in desert.

Style: 6lColor: Scoria Blue/Night ShiftVerified PurchaseWe did several day hikes this summer in Maine/New Hampshire and this was a perfect little pack. Held water for 2 of us. A couple of snacks, my asthma inhaler, EpiPen & keys with room to spare. It was a little warm but compared to other waist packs I’ve owned this was a huge improvement. Finally, it fit myself, my husband and our son, so don’t pay any attention to the gender description. For a backpack sure, but this, not necessary.

Style: 6l (Extended Fit)Color: Black/Coal GreyAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )The Osprey Talon 6L Lumbar Hiking Waist Pack is a great option for those who want to travel light while keeping essentials within easy reach. It’s incredibly comfortable and stable, even on technical terrain, making it ideal for hiking, running, or cycling.
The dual-zippered main compartment provides decent storage for snacks, a small water bottle, or extra gear. The lumbar design helps distribute weight evenly, reducing strain on the back and hips.
I also appreciate that this pack is a bluesign PRODUCT, meaning it meets high environmental and social standards. It’s nice to see a commitment to sustainability in outdoor gear.
The only reason I’m giving it four stars instead of five is that it could use more organizational pockets for better gear separation. Also, larger water bottles may feel a bit unstable in the side holsters.
Overall, a reliable and comfortable waist pack for those who prefer a lightweight setup. Perfect for short hikes, trail runs, or multi-sport activities!

Style: 6lColor: Scoria Blue/Night ShiftVerified PurchaseMy husband and I like to day hike. We switched from backpacks to fanny packs many years ago. I don't think my husband ever had a fanny pack that stayed around his waist until now. The Osprey Talon 6 does. Took awhile to make room for all of the stuff he likes to carry and to find good water bottles that fit. The holders are easily accessible. The bottles slide in and out while wearing the fanny pack, but don't fall out. The belt pockets are nice. The waistband is comfortable as is the back padding. And the blue color is beautiful.

Style: 6l (Extended Fit)Color: Black/Coal GreyAmazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )This is by far the best waist pack I've used and I've got a couple of months on it now. It's really well made in every way. The materials are top notch as well as the craftsmanship of the product all the way around. It's really comfortable to wear. There's plenty of places to store everything I have from keys to snacks to water bottles. This is perfect for both shorter and longer hikes. It's not really geared toward running. It's more of an alternative to wearing a backpack or a supplement to wearing a smaller backpack. It feels like it supports my lower back which helps a lot going up and down hills. The extended fit is great for bigger people. It fits a couple of regular size water bottles perfectly. I don't have any complaints at all. It's a great value for the price that will last for a long time. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Surprisingly, a disappointment for Osprey.
No instructions or descriptions of features come with it. The QR code is merely promotional for the product line. I had to go the the item description on line to see that the odd looking buckled overlay is for storing water bottles. Nice feature, but not intuitive on handling.
I don't care for the design of the pockets. There is a smaller one with a key-ring clip in front and then a ginormous one behind it adjacent to the lumbar support. The only subdivision/compartmentalization within it is a small mesh zipper pouch (presumably for things like money and ID). This 5 liter sized pocket could really do with a divider of some kind unless your only intention is to fill it with a jacket. In addition to this, the smaller mesh pouch had its zipper placed inside out and without a pull of any kind.
On the up side, the 6 liter size is useful for day hikes with room to spare. The two water bottle holders are a neat idea, the lumbar support is comfortable and well made to support the heavier larger pouch and allow cushioning and air flow. Adjustment of the waist size is secure and easy.
I am surprised at the shoddy quality assurance on the zipper, and find the pocket design uninspired. Would give 3 1/2 stars if possible.

Style: 6lColor: Scoria Blue/Night ShiftVerified Purchase10
